Astro Experience
Minimum age
The minimum age of participants is 6 years.
Confirmation
Bookings will be confirmed once payment has been received in full.
Cancellation and refund policy
Clients can cancel their booking and receive a full refund up until 24 hours before the start time of the experience. Refunds will be made through our online booking software.
Requests by clients to reschedule their booking to another date can be made up until 24 hours before the start time of the experience and are subject to availability.
Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be received by the operator at info@astrotekapo.com no later than 24 hours before start time of the experience.
Even though we always aim to go out and stargaze, experiences can be cancelled by the operator up until half an hour before start time for reasons including weather conditions unfavourable for stargazing, hazardous road conditions. Guests of the affected experience will be given the option to (a) reschedule to another date – subject to availability –, or (b) get a full refund.
No-show
Guests who arrive at the meeting point after the start time of their experience, or do not show up at all, will not receive a refund.
Smoking
On Takapō Regional Park land, smoking is strictly forbidden during the entire duration of the experience.
Photos
Photo(-s) of your party may be taken during the experience and later sent to your e-mail. The operator reserves the right to publish these photos on their website, social media platforms and other promotional material. If you do not wish to appear on any of these, please advise us by e-mail.
Private Astro Experience
Minimum age
There is no minimum age for the Private Astro Experience. Kids younger than 6 are welcome to participate free of charge but must be supervised by their parents or adult caregivers during the entire duration of the experience.

Cancellation and refund policy
Clients can cancel their booking and receive a refund up until 7 days before the original date of the experience. Refunds will be made through our online booking software; a non-refundable admin fee of 5% applies. (At the time of purchase, the client isn’t charged any surcharge for making the online payment. However, in case of cancellation by the client the admin fee is used to help cover for the online transactions.)

Cancellations with refund or rescheduling requests by client must be received by the operator at info@astrotekapo.com no later than 7 days before the original date of the experience.
Payment is 50% non-refundable if booking is cancelled by client within 7 days of start time of the experience and 100% non-refundable if booking is cancelled by client within 24 hours of start time of the experience.
For Private Astro Experiences taking place outside of Tekapo township, the travel fee will be 100% non-refundable once the operator has started travelling toward the client’s accommodation. Before setting out, the operator will call the client on the NZ phone number provided by the client to discuss the weather forecast and evolution.
